I made a decision today to get real serious about my health, fitness and weight loss. I even roped my hubby into being my personal trainer.
So off we headed to the Apple store to pick up this
I had to get the red because a portion is donated to fight global HIV/AID (thanks Bono!)
and finally this
I really hated to because I already have the 30gb iPod, but the Nike+ doesn't work with that or the Shuffle. Since I wanted to keep track of my calories burnt, distance, time and my goals I figured this was the best way to go.
I did not buy the Nike+ footwear to go with the sensor. See, what you do is place the sensor in a pocket below the shoe liner and it registers to the fob you put on the bottom of your iPod Nano. Instead smart hubby made it a little pocket and it sits right behind my shoe strings. There is also a product called LaceLidstm that holds your sensor to the shoestrings. Since my Ryke sneakers are practically brand new and mostly used in a gym I couldn't see buying a new pair. Plus I just bought myself a pair of cute little Birkie sandles so I just couldn't justify buying another pair of shoes at 110.00.
Hubby and I headed for the track (which is only about a mile down the road from me) and we calibrated the iPod and Sensor and it is spot on. The track is 1/8 of a mile and I did 1/2 mile walks to calibrate it.
I also went out to Nike.com and signed up for a couple of beginner challenges to keep me motivated. I am still walking and before I messed up my back I was slowly adding running, but I can't run until the cute chiro gives me the okay. Right now it is only walking and light stretches like Yoga or Ti Chi.
Okay I'll use the S word ;-) my hubby spoils me rotten.
