We had a great time this weekend. I didn't get a lot of knitting or sewing done, but nonetheless it was nice. Saturday one of hubby's co-workers and his wife Brenda came over and we headed out to do some wine tasting. First of course was Benjamin's Vineyard, as they are right around the corner from us. One of the wines I like there is called Scuppernong - a wine made from the Muscadine grape - it is on the sweet side and delicious. LOL Kevin loved it also.
Then it was on to Iron Gate, we had a totally different experience there as they changed the format of their tasting. We were lead past oak casks and big stainless steel vats to another room with tables and chair set up in a U. They then gave is about 12 different wines to taste. My favorite from Iron Gate is Flue Fire but now we've added another - Country Blossoms - which is like a Riesling.
Then when headed to GlenMarie but opted out of the wine tasting as they were really packed. We decided to stop somewhere pick up some steak and other goodies and head home for a nice dinner on the grill. Kevin and Brenda bought some chicken kabobs and chicken sausage and hubby picked up some steaks. While the chicken was cooking we enjoyed chips with dip, cheese and crackers. With the dinner we also had a green salad, corn on the cob, baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw, a pasta salad, and some yummy pumpernickle and oat baguette.
After they left Kris and I headed to Borders to pick up a book we are reading for a book club held by members of the Shambhala Center. It is The Attention Revolution - Unlocking the Power of the Focused Mind by B. Alan Wallace, PH.D. The meeting is this Tuesday night so I need to sit and do some reading and finish up the current chapter in Gift From the Sea.
Hubby headed out of town about 15 minutes ago and he will be working up in Virginia for the next few days. This gives me time on catching up with reading and some other things. I find it hard to really read when hubby is home as I want to give him my attention. He also likes to have the TV on which makes it hard for me to read. It will be nice to have a few days to myself. I didn't want to miss my last sewing class this Wednesday otherwise I would have gone with him. I'll go with him next week - we found a nice little hotel within walking distance of town - I am really looking forward to that.
