That is how many hours I have left before hubby's Mom and Sis arrive. OH this reminds me, I need to call Amtrak and make sure they are coming through Rocky Mount. Last week a bridge went out and there was no Amtrak service going south of Richmond and going north from Rocky Mount. They had hoped that they would be back in service by this weekend but they weren't 100% sure.
Well a lot of the things are done here. I need to get into one of my kitchen cabinets and clean that out. One part of my kitchen, against a window wall is like ---|,
I have three vertical cabinets, a little shelf, my stove, countertop, sink, then the | which is a long countertop. Under that countertop are four cabinets, the other side of those cabinets is just a plain wood that makes like bar - strike that I have a better idea - here is a picture.
the far corner where you see the mugs, well my shelving in my lower cabinets goes that far back and needless to say a lot of things get pushed down there and it is a pain in the ass, not to mention a waste of space.
If you can tell from this picture, which is taken in the dinette it is a breakfast bar. My thinking is to cut a hole in back wall (where your knees would be) and put in another cabinet door, hubby had a better idea and that was to make the shelves slide out and we can store the dog and cat food in there. Excellent idea. But for now I need to get in there and organize it. Then the only thing left to do is regular household chores, vacuuming, dusting and make the beds in the guest bedrooms. Oh my craft room after all this sewing and making the cards for the postcard swap it is a mess, but I'm saving that for tomorrow because I want to finish the placemats. WHEW!!!! Long week I tell you.
In-between the household stuff I've been making this:
Placemats, I've made two. They still lack the bias binding around the edges. I didn't realize that was called for in the pattern and I don't want to use all that material up to make the bias binding so tonight I'll head to JoAnn's and see what kind of bias tape they have, hopefully wide enough and sew that on. Oh I should have taken a picture of the reverse side - different material - oh well next time.
My KnitPicks order arrived - it came fast - I ordered on Thursday and it was here Monday.
You see that white yarn - it's is going to be dyed using these and the wonderful directions I received from Dave and the helpful hints I received from Tina from Spinners Ridge. On my way to JoAnn's we'll check out a few places and see if I can find plastic bottles to make and store the dye in. I checked out the Dollar Store last weekend and didn't find anything so maybe WalMart? Not sure but I'll try. I found a site that says to use a ratio of 100:1 of liquid to powder by weight, about 32 ounces of water per packet of dye. A quart container for each color and then probably another container to store the leftovers. Hopefully I can find something. Oh the tubs are for dyeing plant fibers, I'm going to use those on the Peaches 'n Cream cones I was talking about.
Okay I need to get my butt out of here - I haven't eaten lunch yet and I am starved.
