We have been real busy around here; almost to busy to knit. Noticed I said almost. I have been knitting small projects - socks, the toe-up socks which I only knit on when I am out of the house, like car rides, to knitting night, etc. and another pair I started from the Six Sock Knit-along group. I also made another dishcloth from the Mason-Dixon book.
Materials: Sugar 'n Cream Hot Purple 132853, Soft Teal 146518, Addi Turbo #7.
Pattern: Mason-Dixon Knitting's Ballband Dishcloth
Time: Thursday April 13, 2006 - Sunday April 16, 2006
I forgot to mention in my last post that I bought a bunch of dye. I have a lot of Peaches 'n Cream cone cotton - just like Kay and Ann from Mason-Dixon Knitting recommends for the rug patterns. I want to dye them in yellow, sage and green. I also bought some dye for wool as I ordered a couple of skeins from Knit-Picks - the Color Your Own yarn. Tina, the spinning teacher, gave me some valuable pointers for dyeing and I wrote every nugget down. I hope I can do it when my Mom is here next week - I think she will enjoy the process.
Speaking of my Mom, I will have her hopping when she is here. She wants to visit the yarn stores in the area; especially the one in Cary - Needles, Shuttles and Hooks, because she is a tatter. She makes lace! It is amazing to watch her work the shuttle. I have tried, she has tried to teach me, but I always get a knot. Well anyway, this store in Cary has a lot of tatting supplies and a ton of Cebalia thread in lots of colors and this is the thread of choice by Mom. She will also be teaching a tatting class on the 29th of April in Burlington at The Needleworks.
Well the kitchen is just about there; it is finished kind of, Kris just lacks doing the trim around the window and the base of the cabinets. One section has him perplexed as to how to do it so I suggested he waits for my Dad and maybe he'll have some suggestions (which I'm sure he will). Dad had worked in construction for many years and he did specialized or detailed construction such as cabinets. You should have seen the gorgeous built in desk, shelves and dresser he made for me when I was a kid when we lived on Long Island. He built it against a wall and made the two shelves in an L shaped, then he made a very long counter-top that extended under the _ of the L shaped shelves. To the left were three dresser draws and to the right was a built in chair that when pushed against the counter-top/desk looked like more drawers, until you opened it and found a chair. Under the chair were two doors that opened for storage. I loved that thing I tell you. Hmmm maybe he could build me one in my craft studio that would be cool.
We hoed out my son John's room yesterday. It was John's room and then when he moved out and Richard moved in he slept in John's room (Richard's room was converted into my parent's guest bedroom). Both boys had left computers, computer parts and other things here; they both want them but can't come to get them right away. Thank goodness there is a very huge closet in that room - we boxed up all their things and put in the closet, we still had enough room for my large winter clothes storage containers and suitcases, so that is nice and organized. Richard left his California King size bed here and thank goodness I have two sheet sets that fit it, so now my sister-in-law will have a place to sleep.
My in-laws will be here Wednesday night, it sure is coming fast, so I better head out and finish the things I need to do.

I have had the Mason Dixon book on my Amazon wish list for awhile. I have read about it on enough blogs now to convince myself that I NEED that book!
Enjoy your company this week!
